Alyssa and Greg’s Wind Point Lighthouse engagement session took place on a cool, summer evening. As sunshine drenched their shoulders and a hearty lake breeze played tricks with their hair, we got to know each other a bit better.
Brought together by their love of the Brewers, and a fun date spent at the stadium for a game, Alyssa and Greg soon became close companions. Their playful banter is a quick giveaway as to why they love one another – they’re playful, encouraging, and lighthearted together.
But love for Alyssa involves more than just romance. For her man to be the one, he would have to be the one for her, but for her daughter Lucy as well.
Luckily, by the time I met their sweet family, Greg and Lucy were already peas in a pod.
His love an patience for Lucy, and Alyssa’s pure joy and admiration for their relationship, have shone through in each of our encounters (I write this nearly a year after their engagement session, and even after their amazing, happy tear-jerker of a wedding). He is a father through and through, and their family was firmly bonded long before the wedding day.
So, naturally, to celebrate, we began Alyssa and Greg’s engagement session with a few sweet family portraits.
After a bit of snuggle time with Lucy, her godmother came by to hang out, and Alyssa and Greg joined me down by the lake.
If infectious laughter, bright smiles, and sweet kisses are a sign of anything, it’s more than safe to say that Alyssa and Greg are the perfect pair.
They even learned to master The Dip like pros. This is one of the things we like to teach couples during our engagement sessions. Dips can be tricky, especially in wedding gowns, so every bit of practice you can sneak in before the big day is a plus!
Engagement sessions are always some of my favorites. They’re a chance to play, to enjoy one another as a couple, to learn about your photographer (me!), and to get comfortable trying new things. We try to make sure you’re prepared for your wedding photography well before the morning of your big day arrives, and your engagement session is the perfect time to do just that.
With Alyssa and Greg though, things were even sweeter than usual – especially in retrospect, now that I’ve witnessed their wedding day. They are rocks for one another. True stands for their family, for their life together, and their daughter. Greg sees Alyssa for all of the strength and beauty that she is, and Alyssa softens and relaxes into her playful self as she watches his kindness and patience unfold in their life.
Cheers, you two. To your future, your present, and the beautiful life you’ll look back on decades from now.
