One of the more rewarding aspects of being a photographer is being able to provide other small businesses the imagery they need to promote their staff and services. On the surface, commercial photography and headshots may not seem the most glamorous of services, but seeing the value they provide makes them hugely worthwhile. Not to mention, the wide array of truly unique and wonderful people I get to meet in the process. Each company out there has a culture, and one of the beautiful things that becomes apparent when creating imagery for a company, small or large, is how integral each staff member is in the creation of that culture, and in forming ties with their customers and patrons. Of course, I get to experience this dynamic all of the time with my own clients, but consulting with business owners in order to create custom imagery that reflects their internal culture and business goals is both inspiring, and rewarding.
Combining forces with Yoga Seva yoga studio, of Crystal Lake, IL, was no exception. While I’ve worked with Ann (owner of and teacher at Yoga Seva) in the past, pairing with her and her web designer to create custom imagery for an upcoming website redesign was a great collaboration.
I had the opportunity to meet and photograph her wonderful staff of instructors, all of whom are truly passionate about yoga, have very fun/vivacious personalities, and a great rapport with their students.
As we photographed a few mock classes, I got to witness that rapport first hand.
Not only does Yoga Seva offer a variety of yoga instruction, taught at a comfortable pace for practitioners of all ages and experience levels, but Ann also provides meditation courses and Ayurvedic studies.
If you’re in the Crystal Lake area, I’d highly suggest stopping by for a class.
A big thanks to Ann, her teachers, and all of the ladies who joined us to create the images for this shoot. It was a huge pleasure working with all of you!
